Stow's Vantrease Places 15th at District

Bulldogs have only one top-20 finish; no qualifiers for state swim meet.

The swim team had its best finish in Saturday's (Feb. 19) Division I district meet at Cleveland State from freshman Cody Vantrease, who took 15th in the 100-yard free with a time of 49.54 seconds. Vantrease was in a record-setting event, where Strongsville senior Michael Meldon set a district standard with a winning time of 44.70 seconds.

It was the only top-20 finish on the day for the Bulldogs, which had three boys and three girls qualify for two events each at the Robert Busbey Natatorium.

Also going to CSU for Stow on the boys side were junior Jeremy Wentz (200 individual medley, 100 free), junior Joe Freudeman (100 fly, 100 back), senior Greg Oneacre (200 IM), and Vantrease (100 free, 200 free). The boys team also fielded a 200 freestyle relay team, who finished 17th with a time of 1:45.54.
