Giving Back to the Animals This Holiday Season

How to give back to the animals this holiday season.

The holidays are the perfect time of year to give back to our furry friends who are in need. Here are some great ways to help make their holiday a little brighter at Pawsibilites, The Humane Society of Greater Akron!

Donate items from our Wish List: Gas cards, liquid hand soap refills, liquid laundry detergent, hot dogs, rawhides, small plastic litter boxes, nylon leashes, dog toys, cat toys, wet cat food, wet dog food, buckle collars, non-scoopable litter, trash bags, hand sanitizer, latex gloves, toilet paper, bleach, dish soap, antibacterial wipes, copy paper, stamps, manila folders, colored paper, plain mailing labels, dry-erase markers, clear tape.

(Please note: dry dog food/cat food are not on these lists. Although we will take any donation, we do only use one type of dog food and one type of cat food. By doing this, we are able to get a great rate from a supplier and keep the bellies of our animals in good working order)
ACME Community Cash Back Program: We are accepting Acme receipts (dated between 9/24/11 and 2/11/12). ACME Fresh Market Community Cash Back Program helps us earn 5 percent return when you purchase ACME Brands, including Academix, Domestix, Electrix, Food Club, Full Circle, Paws, TopCare, ValueTime and World Classics. This is a simple and easy way to help our shelter raise money. Just be sure the receipt has a Community Cash Back section on your receipt and drop them off or mail them to: 7996 Darrow Road, Twinsburg, OH 44087

Recycle: Drop off your empty ink cartridges to be recycled and also your recyclable paper for our bins out front. Not only do you help the environment, but you also help us raise money!

Volunteer: Volunteers are an essential part of the shelter. As a volunteer, you can share your time and talents to help the animals. By assisting in direct animal care, community education and outreach, event planning and fundraising or administrative help, you're always helping to make a difference for everyone. No matter what you can do for PHSGA and its animals, you will find it a very rewarding to give back!

If you would like to volunteer please click here to download the Volunteer Application

Cash Donations: There's no doubt that the holidays are a busy time of year and making it out to the shelter to drop items off or to volunteer just might not fit in your schedule. If you are feeling short on time but still want to find a way to give back to the animals of PHSGA, consider making a cash donation. You can donate online by clicking here or you can mail a check in to Pawsibilities, Humane Society of Greater Akron, 7996 Darrow Road, Twinsburg, OH 44087.

Donate to the Local Food Bank: This holiday season please also consider helping the men, women and families in need who are living through out Summit County. These families and individuals often have pets that are in need too. Donate bags and cans of pet food to the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank. Helping them care for their pets helps to keep them out of a shelter.

Here at PHSGA we appreciative the support our community gives us. Without all of you, we would not be able to provide the much needed care these animals deserve. We thank you for all you have given and the support you have provided in 2011!
