Our series on unique wedding venues continues with a few cool places with history in the Akron area:
The Akron Civic Theater is available for rentals for your entire wedding or just an hour for some dramatic pictures. If you haven’t been there since it’s been restored, you won’t believe the gorgeousness! Click here to see some lovely wedding photos taken by Genevieve Nisly Photography in the Civic Center. The Chocolate Bride Blog also has a great post on a wedding held there. Isn't this a fantastic setting for dramatic pictures!
Love a smaller setting steeped in history? The G.A.R. Hall in Peninsula is a perfect setting for weddings, receptions, bridal and baby showers, anniversaries or graduations. The beautifully restored 1880s Victorian landmark built for the Civil War veterans and village social center has two levels – ballroom/auditorium, stage, bar room, porch, dining room, covered patio, lower patio, and full service liquor and wine. Can seat 140 in the winter & 175 in the summer... For more historical wedding venues, see our post on Two Hearts Inspirations!
The error of originally calling it the Akron Civic Center when that is not even the name of it (or even a "center") IS significant.
I think what David was trying to point out is that people make mistakes and that this type didn't warrant the tone of Debbie’s note. The Two Hearts Team simply had a brain freeze when writing up the article. Yes, it is the Civic Theater not a “center” as the link clearly showed. We are simply two ladies trying to promote the wedding & event industry in the Akron/Canton area and prone, as all humans are, to making an occasional mistake. We hope folks get something out of our blog and that we help couples find inspiration and area venues/businesses to use for their weddings & special events. The Two Hearts Team
