Lady Bulldog Swimmers Triumph Over Twinsburg 93-92! Boy's Team Wins 112-73

Bulldog Swim Teams Take the Roar out of the Twinsburg Tigers.

For the Lady Bulldogs this season swim meets are always a race to the finish.

They don’t have the luxury of dominating their opponents and last night’s meet against Twinsburg was no exception.

The Lady Bulldogs came into the meet undermanned with the loss of key freshman Kelsey Wenk to injury.  Assistant coach, Kaity Detzel commented, “Without Kelsey we knew it would be close.”

Close it was as the top five places score points.  Several Lady Bulldogs stepped up to the challenge.  This meet came down to the final event to determine the winner.  Stow needed some terrific swims to have a chance.

In the 200 IM Stow took 2nd with the relay team of sophomore Lindsey Adkins, senior Jessie Lee, sophomore Jenni Heid and senior Becca Kassinger.  The relay team of junior Megan Kolke, senior Haley Adkins, sophomore Ainsley Wilbur and freshman Maddie Dyer took 4th.

Lindsey Adkins took first in the 200 free 2:06.77. Helping Adkins were Maddie Dyer, 3rd place, and big sister Haley Adkins, 5th. Jessie Lee took second in the IM and after being a body length behind going into the final turn, freshman Kelly Vantrease was able to out touch Twinsburg by .33 of a second to take third.  Freshman Kirsten Earle took 5th

Jenni Heid swam strong to a first in the 50 free 26.72.  Sophomore Tori McCauley and junior Rachael Moretti placed 4th and 5th

In diving, freshman Sierra Clark, who had missed some meets due to illness, came up big by finishing 4th

Diving points make a tremendous difference in close meets.  In the 100 fly, Jenni Heid again placed 1st 1:07.80 and senior Megan Kolke finished 3rd.  In the 100 free Stow finished 2nd Kelly Vantrease, 3rd  Tori McCauley, 4th Becca Kassinger.  In the 500 free Maddie Dyer took 2nd and Ainsley Wilbur took 3rd

The girl’s 200 free relay was an exciting race as .11 of a second was the difference.  Jessie Lee, Tori McCauley, Rachael Moretti and anchor Kelly Vantrease put together an incredible race with Vantrease just out touching the Tigers for 1st place.  The 200 free relay team of Haley Adkins, Megan Kolke, freshman Katie Kassinger and junior Hannah Evan took 4th.  In the 100 back, Lindsey Adkins, Becca Kassinger and Rachael Moretti took places 3rd, 4th and 5th

In the 100 breast Jessie Lee took 1st 1:14.34, Ainsley Wilbur 3rd and Haley Adkins 4th.  In the meet’s final event, the 400 free relay, first place wasn’t going to be enough to beat the Tigers.  Stow needed two out of the three places to seal the victory.  Stow took first with the relay team of Lindsey Adkins, Tori McCauley, Kelly Vantrease and Jenni Heid 3:56.63.

Stow also took 3rd and the team win with the relay team of Rachael Moretti, Ainsley Wilbur, Becca Kassinger and Maddie Dyer.  The Lady Bulldogs raise their record to 3-2.

Boys Trounce the Tigers for Win

It was a much easier win for the boy’s team as they cruised to victory 112-73.  Senior Jeremy Wentz said, “We swam different events in this meet and some swimmers discovered new talents.”

In the 200 IM senior Chris Blohm, junior Jacob Earle, Jeremy Wentz and sophomore Cody Vantrease took 1st 1:49.98.  In the 200 free senior Greg Dyer took first 2:03.93.

In the 200 IM junior Mason Gabriel took 2nd and freshman Shane Riddle took 3rd.   In the 50 free Cody Vantrease took 1st 23.38 and freshman Corey Dyer took 3rd.  In diving junior Will Sheppard took 2nd

In the 100 fly junior Parker Gabriel took 1st 1:04.63 and junior Cameron Potter took 2nd.  In the 100 free sophomore Justin Faluotico took 2nd.  In the 500 free Jacob Earle took 1st 5:24.14 and senior Joe Wisniewski took 2nd.  In the 200 free relay, Greg Dyer, Mason Gabriel, senior Joe Freudeman and Cameron Potter took 1st 1:40.16.  The relay team of Corey Dyer, freshman Max Bauer, freshman Alex Cremer and Joe Wisniewski took 3rd

In the 100 back, Jeremy Wentz took 1st 1:02.18.  In the 100 breast Alex Cremer took 2nd.  Stow finished the meet with 1st and 2nd place finishes in the 400 free relay.  Cameron Potter, Jeremy Wentz, Parker Gabriel and Cody Vantrease finished 1st 3:33.24.  Greg Dyer, Justin Faluotico Mason Gabriel and Joe Freudeman took 2nd.  The boys raised their record to 4-1 on the season.
