Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise's office is now offering a new wallet-size veteran identification card. The new veteran identification card will serve as an alternative to the Armed Forces Discharge record known as a DD Form 214, or DD214. Summit County is among the first in the state of Ohio to provide this service to veterans. “I am proud to be among the first in Ohio to provide this service to our veterans,” said Scalise in a prepared statement. “We have made the process of getting a card very simple and convenient. Stow City Council reviews street repairs across city
Members of Stow City Council hopped a bus this week to tour the city's road projects planned for 2013, repairs already under way and proposed upgrades for 2014. Council toured 18 different points of interest that ranged from paving repairs and sidewalk upgrades to street work proposed for next year. Nick Wren, Stow's service director, said the tour included the nearly finished upgrades to Hudson Drive and Commerce Drive. "Really, to us no one area is more important than another," Wren said. A Stow man has pleaded not guilty to charges of child pornography after being indicted by the Summit County grand jury. Thomas E. Williams, 74, of 3038 Stockbridge Drive, pleaded not guilty in Summit County court to two counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor, fourth-degree and second-degree felonies, and one count of illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material or performance, a fifth-degree felony. Williams pleaded not guilty May 1 before Summit County Common Pleas Judge Alison McCarty. The grand jury charged Williams via a secret indictment in April.
