Police departments from all over Northeast Ohio gathered in downtown Cleveland May 20 for the 26th annual Greater Cleveland Peace Officers Memorial Service.
Fallen Stow Officer Jonathan Bastock's name was added to the Greater Cleveland Police Officers Memorial May 20 and the Stow Honor Guard had the honor of leading the parade. Stow Police Chief Louis Dirker said it was unusual to be inducted to the memorial so quickly. "Since Jonathan passed so early this year they did not want to wait until next year to induct him into the memorial," said Dirker. Bastock, 47, of Cuyahoga Falls died from a blood clot Feb. 5 while recuperating from knee surgery while on injury leave after falling on ice during a call in January. "We are very pleased that Jonathan’s [has been] added this year and it is quite an honor for the department to have the Honor Guard lead the parade," the chief said. "Special thanks …
