Information on how to have a fun and safe holiday in Stow
Happy Fourth of July Stow! Here's five things I thought you should know about the day: 1. The Pride Pancake Breakfast at First Christian Church of Stow begins at 7 a.m. 2. The Stow Firecracker Run begins at 7:30 a.m. 3. The Fourth of July Parade steps off at 10 a.m. There are 170 parade participants this year. Line the streets early for a good spot! Roads will be closed for part of the day because of the events mentioned above. 4. It is illegal to shoot off fireworks in Stow. Read a message from Police Chief Louis Dirker here. 5. I need your help creating a photo gallery for the parade because I'll be driving a hot little Fiat 500 in the parade. Click here to add your photos from the event ... I know you'll have those iPhones and cameras …
We asked you to submit your favorite patriotic tunes and created a Spotify playlist.
Happy 4th of July! Whether you plan to celebrate America's freedom by watching a parade or two, having a cookout, oohing and ahhing at fireworks or just hanging out by the pool, we wanted to make sure you had the soundtrack for it. Last week, we asked you to submit your favorite patriotic songs. We compiled them into a Spotify playlist and now we're giving it back to you. Note: To listen to the playlist, you must be a Spotify user. To play, click the "Play" button at the top of the list and it should launch your Spotify application. If the playlist doesn't load, try clicking "Play" with Spotify already open. Happy listening and have a great holiday!
Take photos from the parade, firecracker run or just a patriotic pic at a picnic? Add them here!
Please help create a Stow photo gallery for the Fourth of July celebration! Some of these photos are from last year's parade ... but Patch needs your help to update the gallery — just click "upload photos & videos."

It's illegal to discharge fireworks in the city of Stow, reminds Police Chief Louis Dirker.
You may be able to purchase them around here, but it isn't legal to shoot them off in Stow. Stow Police Louis Dirker said it is illegal to discharge fireworks in the city and officers will be on alert this July 4, 2012. A message from the chief: "For the safety of everyone, we strongly urge you to obey the law and leave the firework displays to the experts. Your safety, as well as those around you, is at risk when you attempt to discharge fireworks. With the current drought like conditions such as extremely dry grass, mulch and rooftops, there is a much higher risk of fire than usual for northeast Ohio. Please exercise caution when allowing the use of sparklers, smoke bombs and other small legal trick and novelty devices. Keep a water …

Ed, Thanks for the compliment about my sign and I really don't want to get way off topic here but "prayer in school crosses the line" , I understand but 2 points, 1) a moment of silence hurts or offends no one, 2) personally I believe when you remove things like a moment of silence, the Pledge of Allegiance ect.ect. you see a definite increase in stories like these : Parents Furious After School …   more ›
