Police Catch Man Claiming to Have Gun During Robbery

The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Stow Police arrested Randy William Korcker a few days after witnesses said he robbed Acme Sept. 25 around 2 p.m. and initially got away because he threatened he had a gun.  According to a police report, security officers approached the man who was seen shoplifting. When they tried to detain him, the man reached into the waistband of his pants and said he had a gun. The security employees “backed off and watched him get in a black vehicle” and leave, according to officers.  A gun was never seen and the man left the items he attempted to steal when he ran to his car.  On Oct. 2, Police Lt. Akron Police Find Car Used in Gunpoint Theft

Police aren't commenting on whether or not the car has yielded new clues from last week's burglary and armed theft that occurred in Stow by a man who's yet to be caught or identified.

The stolen car that was used by an armed burglar to avoid being captured by Stow police was found over the weekend in Akron.  According to SPD Lt. Anne Stirm, the 2003 Ford Taurus was recovered by the Akron Police Department, and it appears not to be damaged.  Stirm would not comment on whether or not new evidence was found in the car to help the investigation. On Sept. 6., Stow police were responding to a reported burglary at about 1:40 p.m. when they saw a black man (6'1", 200 lbs.) leaving the residence on the 2300 block of Graham Road. Witnesses say the man could be anywhere from 25 to 40 years old. Armed Robbery in Stow, Five Arrested Overnight

All five people arrested were charged with first-degree felonies.

Five Canton residents were arrested and charged in connection with a robbery in which the group walked into an unlocked home and forced the occupants to give up money and possessions at gunpoint. The two women and two men were arrested early this morning in Stow and are charged in connection with the incident, which occurred this morning at a home on Orchard Drive. Charged are April M. Hanlin, 22, Catherine A. Fach, 20, Brandon M. Garner, 21, and Lee J. Bennett, 22, all of Canton. Garner and Bennett each are charged with one count of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony. Hanlin and Fach each are charged with one count of complicity to aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony. The five men who were at the Orchard Drive home gave up …

Police Still Searching for Armed Robbers in Stow

Police are still searching for three men who entered a Mac Drive apartment and robbed the residents and a visitor at gunpoint Jan. 2 at 10:58 p.m. Police only have broad descriptions of the three suspects, but the victims described the men as having medium builds and are between 5-foot-9 and 6-feet tall. One of the suspects had a black mustache and was wearing a green and white letterman’s jacket, according to the report. The suspects were last seen fleeing  the scene in a four-door silver sedan. The five victims told police that they were all in a bedroom when the suspects entered the front, unlocked door Jan. 2. Police Searching for Armed Robbers in Stow

Stow Police are searching for three men that robbed a group of teens at gun point on Sunday night. The armed robbery took place at an apartment on Mac Drive according to Stow Police. Police say five teens, ranging in age from 17-19, were forced to give up their money and wallets by three men who entered the apartment through an unlocked door. One teen was slightly injured in the robbery. Police describe the alleged robbers as black males, wearing green and white letterman's or Boston Celtic jackets. The men were between 5-foot-9 and 6-feet tall. Anyone with information is asked to contact Stow Police at 330-689-5731.
