Artists Dream Out Loud in Paintings on Display at City Hall

The mayor purchased three paintings in support of the Dream Out Loud Studio arts program for people with developmental disabilities.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. And now the beautiful artwork the mayor personally purchased from the Dream Out Loud Studio arts program for people with developmental disabilities can be in the eyes of all Stow residents.  Mayor Sara Drew purchased (out of her own pocket) three canvas prints from three different artists who participate in the Dream Out Loud Studio program put on by the Summit County Development Disabilities Board, where Drew worked prior to being elected mayor.  "Each mayor is able to decorate the mayor's conference room as she or he wishes ... Sugarscapes, a series of six, oil-on-canvas paintings, depicts sweets and candies of various forms combined in fantasy landscapes from the artist's imagination. A family business, the coffee shop often has hosted the work of local artists in the past 13 years. When Gray approached the owners earlier this year about hanging some of her paintings at Mocha Joe's, the owners were open to the idea. "Our walls had been bare for a while," said …
