The U.S. Census Bureau released more detailed statistics for Ohio from the 2010 Census, including new data for racial groups in Stow. The bureau says the new data offers a "new layer of detail" to the population and housing data released last year as part of the decennial population study. According to the Census, about 11,000 more people live in the districts served by the municipal court in Stow.
The Stow Municipal Court, which serves 16 community districts, saw a growth of about 11,000 people despite a declining trend in population throughout Ohio in 2010. Now, the court serves 190,000 people, according to the 2010 Census results. In 1990, the court served 160,000 people when it was in Cuyahoga Falls. “We moved to Stow and built the new court house, knowing that our district would continue to grow, particularly in the northern part of the county,” said Stow Municipal Court Judge Kim Hoover. “We are well-prepared and ideally situated to serve the needs of our growing constituency.” The court's growth during the last 20 years has "been so great that it now serves a larger population than the Dayton, Parma and Youngstown [Municipal…

Stow's population grew 8.4 percent in the last decade.
Stow had the fourth highest numbers in population growth in Summit County, according to the Census. Stow Planning Director Ken Trenner said, "Stow is doing well in the population point of view. We exceeded estimates by a few hundred people." Stow increased its population by 2,698 residents in the last 10 years, as shown in this chart. Mayor Karen Fritschel said, "I was a little surprised that we increased as much as we did. We’re almost built out residentially. Stow is doing very well." Summit County also grew since 2000. Summit County now has 541,781 residents, which is an increase of 1,118 people. The results in Cuyahoga County were much different. There, the population decreased by about 113,000 people. In the last decade, Stow has grown by 2,698 residents.
During the last decade Stow and Summit County grew in population while Cuyahoga County shed residents, according to the 2010 Census. The city's population increased by 2,698 residents in the last 10 years, as shown in the boxes below. A notable change was that the amount of residents that describe themselves as Alaskan Natives or American Indians went from 9 in 2000 to 23, according to the Census. Summit County now has 541,781 residents, as shown below, which is an increase of 1,118 people. In Cuyahoga County, the population decreased by about 113,000 people.
