When members of the Stow-Munroe Falls High Class of 2012 gathered for their last official event at school Wednesday morning, they had no idea that 20 of them would leave with prizes like iPad3s, NOOk eReaders, 19-inch flatscreen TVs – and a brand new car! It wasn’t an episode of The Price is Right, but the Senior “Make a Difference” Breakfast featuring keynote speaker Jim Tressel, vice president of strategic engagement for The University of Akron. The former Ohio State University football coach inspired students to continue “to make a difference” after graduation, said Kathleen Thomas, SMFHS administrator. Congratulations to the top 10 students of the 2012 Stow-Munroe Falls High School class. The following seniors, listed in alphabetical order, were the top academic performers of the year. These are the students with the highest GPAs as of the end of the third grading period: There are 439 seniors set to graduate this year. The commencement ceremony is Thursday, May 24 at 8 p.m. at E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall. Admission is by ticket only. According to the guidance department, the high school has historically chosen to honor as many scholars as possible rather than just the top two.
