Cuyahoga Falls Councilwoman Appointed as Next Stow Clerk of Courts

Lisa Zeno Carano was replaced just days after the new year by a local leader you may know.

The Summit County Democratic Central Committee met on Tuesday to choose a new Stow Municipal Clerk of Courts, and their interim pick was none other than Cuyahoga Falls City Councilwoman Diana Colavecchio, reports the Stow Sentry.  Stow Mayor Sara Drew swore Colavecchi in during a ceremony at Cuyahoga Falls High School Tuesday night. Colavecchio, a local attorney, will serve as clerk in Stow Municipal Court until November. At which point, the unexpired term will go on the ballot, and will once again be up for grabs.  She will replace Lisa Zeno Carano, who resigned as clerk on Dec. 31.  Zeno Carano is now working with the Summit County Court of Common Pleas Probate Division as a court administrator. Tasha Schuh took the crown at the national pageant held Saturday at Cuyahoga Falls High School.

Tasha Schuh, better known as Ms. Wheelchair USA, surpassed 13 finalists to win the crown at Saturday's national pageant. It's a major accomplishment for Schuh, a Wisconsin native,  who lost the ability to walk after her spinal cord was crushed in a tragic high school accident, according to tashaschuh.com. "Tasha is an incredible person who demonstrates remarkable strength and resilience on a daily basis," wrote Minnesota Senator John Howe on her blog site. "Her willingness to serve others through her inspirational story is an amazing example of faith, strength and determination." Schuh currently works as a motivational speaker and is writing a book to spread her inspirational story. For more Ms. Wheelchair USA coverage, click here:

Inappropriate Topic Trending on Twitter about School Rivalry

A trending topic on Twitter right now is "#rapestow."

It seems as if the rivalry for Friday's game has gotten a little out of hand. The hashtag "#rapestow" is a trending topic on Twitter right now.  According to several tweets with the hashtag, Cuyahoga Falls High School Principal Anne Alfano made an announcement at Cuyahoga Falls High School telling students to stop using the hashtag. Not all of the students are listening, as the hashtag was the No. 3 top trending topic in this area Tuesday.  See several Tweets with the hashtag in the photo section of this post.  Stow Patch and Cuyahoga Falls Patch have asked for comment from the school districts. Check back for more information.  Updated at 5:45 p.m. Oct. 25: Stow-Munroe Falls High School Principal Susan Schur said on Twitter: "Stow will …

Very well said Katherine! This is absolutely ridiculous. Whoever started or participated in this hastag should be ashamed. Cuyahoga Falls is not the only one to act inappropriately in this rivalry. Last football season the night before our CF YOUTH football team was scheduled to play Stow, the Stow YOUTH kids, parents and coaches participated in a bonfire. Not just any bonfire, they burned our …   more ›

Rivalry Football Game Between Stow and Falls Could be Featured on Billboards

Stow's done it twice before, now that it's the last game of the season the rivalry matchup needs Facebook votes to be featured on six Summit County digital billboards.

Think the rivalry between the Stow-Munroe Falls High School football team and Cuyahoga Falls High School is big enough to be featured on six billboards in Summit County? Then vote for the matchup Friday to be featured as the game of the week on Facebook. If the Stow/Falls game is selected, it will be featured as the game of the week on six Summit County billboards beginning Thursday, according to Billboard Game of the Week. The Stow/Falls matchup is Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. at Stow-Munroe Falls High School. This would be the third time Stow showed team spirit online to be featured as the Akron General Sports Medicine Billboard Game of the Week. There are six digital billboards that the game would be advertised on: Clear Channel Outdoor, which …
