While on patrol, a Stow Police officer learned a man leaving the Stow Municipal Court had an active warrant. When the officer arrived, he stopped Calvin S. Solomon, 49, on his way out of the courthouse Oct. 8 and arrested him on a failure to comply warrant, according to the report. The officer said Solomon, a California resident temporarily living in Cuyahoga Falls, had three Percocet, a plastic bag of marijuana and a plastic bag with four brass screens on him. Solomon was arrested and charged with possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony and possession of marijuana, a minor-misdemeanor. According to court records, Solomon pleaded not guilty to the felony charge. The case was bound over to Summit County Common Pleas Court.

The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department.
Stow Police officers responded to a call about loud music at 4513 Hudson Dr. Oct. 2 and when they arrived the person who opened the door to police ran back inside. Once the resident ran back inside the apartment, police said they followed and found numerous items related to drug activity in plain view: Photos and more information is not available while the case is still under investigation, according to police. Charges are pending. In this situation, trafficking and possession of drugs are fifth-degree felonies, having drug paraphernalia is a minor misdemeanor, obstruction of official business is a second-degree misdemeanor and having criminal tools is a fith-degree felony.

Stow Police received a report about suspicious juveniles Sept. 5 at the 4200 block of Kenneth Road. Police discovered the group of young adults had been drawing with chalk on public roadways and sidewalks in the area. Two of the teens were found to be in possession of drugs. Officers said they found several plastic sandwich baggies with powder Ecstasy in it. Police said they also found a digital scale with residue, a used metal marijuana grinder with resideue, burnt marijuana papers and a total of $147 in cash. According to a Stow Police report, unknown suspects broke a window to the Executive Coin Co. at 2273 Graham Rd. Sept. 2 around 3:30 a.m. and went into the business and stole items. Police were able to get seven fingerprints lifted from the scene of the crime and one shoe print from when a suspect jumped onto the business' counter top, according to the report. Officers said they also took samples of blood from the counter top and outside window frame. The police report did not list what was stolen. The police department did not immediately respond to a question about what was taken. Breaking and entering is a fifth-degree felony, theft is a fourth-degree felony and vandalism is a fifth-degree felony, in this situation.

The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department.
A 75-year-old Stow woman called police to report that several prescription drugs were taken from her home Aug. 16. According to the Stow Police report, 20 Vicodin, valued at $40, were missing from the master bedroom. Officers said 55 Percocet, valued at $165, were taken from a locked drawer and 140 more Vicodin, valued at $420, were taken from the locked drawer. Theft, in this situation, is a third-degree felony and safecracking is considered a fourth-degree felony.

Monday morning, a 70-year-old Stow woman called Stow Police after noticing a man pumping water from a lake on her property. The woman said the man was in a company car and claimed his company was installing fiber optic cable in the area, according to officers. The man further advised the woman that "God put the water here for everyone," the report stated. The man then left before police arrived. The woman, who lives at the 660 block of East Steels Corners Rd., told police she was unable to get the complete name of the company. She had asked the man for a business card several times, but he refused to provide one, the report said. Theft in this situation is a fifth-degree felony and criminal trespassing is a fourth-degree misdemeanor. …

A grand jury indicted Logan A. West, 18, with two first-degree felony charges for allegedly raping his girlfriend's 15-month-old baby.
Logan Andrew West, 18, was indicted Monday morning in front of Portage County Common Pleas Judge John Enlow for charges of raping a child under the age of 10. West, of 4890 Wyoga Lake Rd., was indicted on two counts of rape — both first-degree felonies — and if convicted, faces mandatory prison time (which could include a life sentence) and he must register as a sex offender in Ohio. West was taken into custody on Aug. 6 and is currently being held on a $500,000 cash bond in Portage County Jail. Bond was set at $500,000 in Portage County Judge Kevin Poland's courtroom Aug. 7, 2012 for an 18-year-old Stow man arrested and charged for raping his girlfriend's 15-month-old female baby. Logan Andrew West is charged with rape of a child under the age of 10 years, a first-degree felony. West had a video arraignment in Portage County Aug. 6. His preliminary trial is set for Friday. On top of the half a million dollar cash bond set, the judge ordered that West have no contact with the baby or the mother. The child was hospitalized and released Monday. A woman who lives at the 2200 block of Elmwood Avenue reported to Stow Police that someone stole several expensive pieces from her jewelry box during the past four months. A diamond tennis bracelet, tanzanite and diamond ring and matching earrings, a diamond heart necklace and “mom’s” wedding ring were taken from her home, according to the July 23 report. The items have a total estimated value of $7,200. Theft in this situation is a fifth-degree felony.
