Are you excited for Stow's Fourth of July Parade? I sure am ... and not only because I love seeing Stow's residents and we're celebrating America's Independence, but because I am driving a really cool car. Local Editor Megan Rozsa from Fairlawn-Bath Patch and I will be cruising down Kent Road with the wind blowing in our hair at the high speed of 2 mph Wednesday when the parade steps off at 10 a.m. Megan said she's going to do her best Miss America wave while I'm driving. Taylor Johns and Brianna Bell will be singing outside the Nationwide Arena July 3 at the Red, White and Boom celebration.
Two Stow residents are heading south to our state's capitol July 3 to sing in front of a huge crowd during Ohio's largest Independence Day celebration in Columbus. Taylor Johns, 16, and Brianna Bell, 18, of Stow-Munroe Falls High School recently qualified for the third round of Ohio Idol and will sing in Columbus for the statewide vocal competition. The competition will be narrowed down to 10 people that day. The two teens will sing outside Nationwide Arena July 3 at Red, White and Boom sometime between 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ohio Idol is a statewide singing competition, exclusively for Ohio residents that are 12 years of age and older. Look for road closures beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Kent Road.
The city is hosting two big events on the Fourth of July — the Annual Firecracker Run and the parade — which means main roads will be closed on the holiday. The Stow Firecracker Run begins at 7:30am from Holy Family Church and travels east on Kent Road to Target Plaza and then back to the church. The Stow Fourth of July Parade steps off at 10 a.m. from the Stow-Kent Shopping Center and travels west on Kent Road to Holy Family Church. Kent Road (SR 59) will be closed from Marsh Road to Englewood Drive at the following approximate times: Darrow Road (SR 91) will be closed from Graham Road to Pinehurst Road in Munroe Falls at the following approximate times: The only through traffic permitted during the restricted periods will be on Darrow …
