Mayor and President Feel the Same About Same-Sex Marriage: They Support It

What do you think of the president's decision to support gay marriage May 9, 2012? How do you feel about your own mayor supporting marriage equality in Stow?

Mayor Sara Drew said she signed the Freedom to Marry statement online in January to advocate for the rights every citizen in Stow and today President Barack Obama was the first sitting president to support the issue, according to The Huffington Post. Drew and mayors from 10 other Ohio cities, including Lakewood and Cleveland Heights, have signed the agreement with 150 others across the nation.  Part of the statement reads: "As mayors of great American cities, we proudly stand in support of the freedom of same-sex couples to marry. We personally know many gay and lesbian people living in our cities who are in committed, loving …

I am sorry to come to this conversation so late. Equality is hugely important for everyone. You may never know when you will need it, so you should voice and support it NOW. At a time when I was living with my now husband, I was unable to place him on my health insurance unless we were a same sex couple -imagine that, reverse discrimination. I then worked for one of this areas largest hospital …   more ›
