Morton Thomas, 80, was president of Stow Library trustees and St. Luke Lutheran Community

The retired Goodyear Tire executive once served as a delegate to the President’s White House Conference on Libraries and Information Services.

Morton M. Thomas, a retired Goodyear Tire executive, served as president of the Stow Public Library trustees and St. Luke Lutheran Community in North Canton. The Stow resident, who died April 24 at age 80, joined the library trustees board in 1984 and became president in 1988. “Mort was an avid reader and frequented our library 3-4 times a week,” Cheryl Nelson, public relations coordinator for what is now the Stow-Munroe Falls Library. “He read both fiction and nonfiction and especially enjoyed food magazines and always browsed the new book section.
