The Stow-Munroe Falls schools already have a number of the recommendations in place and have formed a safety task force, officials say.
President Barack Obama presented a sweeping set of gun control recommendations on Wednesday, with many focused directly on increasing safety measures in schools. According to the Politics K-12 blog, the proposals signal a shift in federal priorities: the proposals ask for increases in school safety and mental health counseling funding, areas the administration has sought to cut in the budget in recent years. NEO Carry had held and is planning to host more open-carry gun demonstrations in Northeast Ohio.
NEO Carry, a recently established pro-gun group in Northeast Ohio, is advising members and other Ohio residents who carry guns what businesses they can and cannot carry their weapons into. The group, which recently held an open-carry demonstration in downtown Kent, has listed dozens of businesses — including many Stow shops — on its website advising which allow people to carry guns on their premises and those that prohibit firearms. The answer isn’t easy to find.
Do you know how many of your neighbors have a license to carry a concealed weapon? No? That’s because Ohio keeps those records private. The state releases a quarterly report of all the concealed carry licenses issued, renewed and suspended by county, but that’s as far as the breakdown goes. Information by city or zip code is not available. Representatives from the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office and the Summit County Sheriff’s Office told Patch via email that the Ohio Revised Code allows journalists to view the list of license holders, but not to copy the information. I don't know if it is just me, but I honestly could not make sense of that last comment. I am still trying to figure out who he/she is talking about when they say "disregard their stupidity." I will say that indecipherable comments riddled with misspelled and misused words certainly go toward your credibility when advising others of someone's "stupidity."   more ›
