The Holy Family Parish Troop 177 hosted a rainy-day event and raised $400.
Rain showers Saturday did not deter local boy scouts from going through with their outdoor fundraiser and raising $400 for the troop. Troop 177 of the Boy Scouts of America, affiliated with Holy Family Parish and a member of the Great Trail Council, hosted its second, annual yard sale May 14 in the church's parking lot at 3163 Kent Rd. Community vendors sold a variety of items under tents to protect them from intermittent rainfall during the event. The troop rented space to 17 area vendors. Although last year's fundraiser raised $600 for the troop, this year's yard sale raised about $400, said Mark van 't Hooft, Troop 177 committee chairperson. "The weather didn't help us much," van 't Hooft said. The funds raised from vendor rentals …

Mary Ellen Yeager was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award during a mass April 8.
Mary Ellen Yeager, a self-proclaimed “little local girl who never got far from home,” is this year’s recipient of Holy Family School’s Distinguished Alumni Award. The honor was bestowed upon the 37-year teacher during school-wide mass on Friday morning at Holy Family Church – Yeager's home-away-from-home since she was a toddler. Yeager, a third-grade teacher, credits her parents and their dedication to the Holy Family parish for the path she has happily traveled in life. “I’m living in the same house I was born in, just two blocks from the school. Former parochial administrator to be installed during Tuesday ceremony.
The Rev. Paul Rosing, the new pastor of Holy Family Church in Stow, feels right at home in the 3,200-household parish. And for good reason. Rosing has served as Holy Family’s parochial administrator since November 2002. He was assigned to provide pastoral leadership to the parish in the wake of sexual abuse allegations that resulted in former pastor Joseph Lieberth being placed on administrative leave. Lieberth’s recently submitted resignation was accepted by Catholic Diocese of Cleveland Bishop Richard Lennon, who then appointed Rosing as Holy Family’s pastor. The Mass of Installation for Rosing – to be celebrated by Bishop Lennon – will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Family, followed by a punch and cookie reception in the church hall. All …
