Underage Intoxicated Woman Drives on Wrong Side of Road

The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

On Nov. 24 around 3 a.m., Stow Police pulled over a 20-year-old Hudson woman for driving on the wrong side of the road.  Police said the woman drove her car left of center on Steels Corners Drive near the State Route 8 ramp. Police said the woman, 20, was under the influence of alcohol. Driving left of center is a minor-misdemeanor and the underage offense, as well as the OVI, are both first-degree misdemeanors in this situation. The woman was released on a personal recognizance bond.

Hudson Girl Hurt When Shoved, Robbed on Kent Road

The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department.

A 18-year-old from Hudson told police that someone she didn't know pushed her to the ground and took her backpack at the Kent Road, Hiwood Avenue intersection around 8:30 p.m. June 23. Stow Police said the camouflage backpack is valued at $40 and there was a $20 wallet and $40 phone in the bag. A debit card was also in the wallet. There were also eight personal check issued to Southwestern Company valued at $1,500, according to the report. Officers said the girl had a knot on her head from being pushed over. Robbery, in this situation, is a third-degree felony.

Expect Delays on State Route 8 Starting Monday, April 23

Drivers may want to avoid stretches of the local highway this week.

Get ready for road repairs while heading north on Hudson's stretch of State Route 8 over the next two weeks. Beginning Monday, April 23, the high-speed artery will have northbound lanes closed for pavement repair, according to the city of Hudson's website. The closures will be 24 hours a day. Construction crews will be directing traffic. At different periods, two lanes will be closed during daylight hours. The entrance ramp at Seasons Road in Stow will remain open, but traffic will be stop and go for about a week. Delays should be expected and alternate routes considered. Man Who Took Police on High Speed Chase Gets 15 Years

The following information was provided by the Summit County Prosecutor's office.

The Akron man who was arrested for an armed robbery incident in Hudson in August and taking police on a high speed chase through Stow and Cuyahoga Falls, was sentenced to 15 years in prison. An Akron man, Gerome Burns, 34, robbed an adult male at gunpoint outside a home in Hudson, stealing the victim’s wallet, Rolex watch and gold wedding band this summer, said police. Burns then told the victim to walk behind the house. Fearing he would be killed, the victim refused and instead walked toward the front yard, according to the prosecutor's office. After refusing to walk behind the house, the victim said he saw Burns drive away and then he went to the Hudson Police Department to report the crime. “I commend the victim for immediately …

Golf Team Finishes Season with Perfect Record, Advances to Championship

The team is 10-0 and on top of the Northeast Ohio Conference River Division.

The Stow-Munroe Falls High School boys golf team finished with a perfect 10-0 record after defeating Hudson by -1 stroke (151-152) and Solon by -20 strokes (151-171) Tuesday. "Hudson played very well [Tuesday]. I tip my hat to them, but so did our kids." said Head Coach Ken Miller."I'm obviously very proud of what they have accomplished this season, but we have some very important golf yet to come." Not only is having a perfect record and accomplishment for this team, but it is the fourth consecutive year the Bulldogs have finished on top in the Northeast Ohio Conference River Division. High School Field Hockey Team Loses to Kent

The team is now 0-2 after losing to Kent Sept. 2, 2011.

The Stow-Munroe Falls High School field hockey team lost 0-1 to Kent Roosevelt Sept. 2. The team's overall record is now 0-2 after yesterday's game and losing the season opener to Hudson. The next game is scheduled for Sept. 7 at 5 p.m. at home. See the full schedule here.
