LOOK: Rain Shrivels Crowd, but Plenty Have a 'Blast' at Stow's Summer Sunset Event

Take photos while you were at the 2012 Summer Sunset Blast? There's plenty of great stuff we missed — add yours to the site here!

Community Information Coordinator Linda Nahrstedt said about 3,000 people made it out for the annual Labor Day event at Silver Springs Park.  That figure was way off the expected 15,000-person crowd, but the rain is to blame for that.  Showers came down on and off during the event. But, the band — Jimmy Buffett cover band Gypsies in the Palace — still played and the fireworks still went off without a hitch.  Did you go? What did you think of this year's event? What was your favorite part? Please add your own photos taken at the Stow Summer Sunset Blast by clicking "Upload photos and videos."

Throughout last year’s Labor Day reporting period of Friday, Sept. 3 at 6 p.m. through Monday, Sept. 6 at 11:59 p.m., 11 people were killed on Ohio roadways, including six that were alcohol-related. During this same time period troopers arrested 539 drivers for OVI. "The Stow Police Department participates in state-wide campaigns such as the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over initiative," said Police Chief Louis Dirker. "We want our citizens to enjoy the holidays and encourage them not to have what should be a great time with family and friends end up in tragedy …

Photos: Residents Party Into the Sunset at 'Blast 2011'

This year's Sunset Blast was well attended by young and old alike. We went to see who was having fun and what there was to do.

The Stow Parks and Recreation Department put on this year's Sunset Blast at Silver Springs Park. Thousands of Stow residents and visitors from out of town came to sample the food vendors, play on the inflatable rides and stayed late for the fireworks.   Check out the photo gallery to see what happened. Be sure to upload your photos from the Blast to this post!
