Happy Mother's Day: Mom Blogs on Patch

In celebration of Mother's Day tomorrow, we've gathered up our three best mom bloggers here. Bonus: We even have last-minute gift ideas!

We have some pretty great mom, and NotMom, bloggers on Patch. They give us sage advice, tell us funny stories and make other women feel like they're not alone in their struggle to raise decent children.  Read what they have to share below: Melissa Winger blogs about her son Will who has been diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome. It's such a rare diagnosis that she wants to educate as many people as she can about its existence and how she's coping with the challenges it brings. Read her blog posts here. Devone writes about the trials and tribulations of raising four children and being a superstar mom at the same time. She shares laughter and tears in her blog here.  Karen Malone Wright prides herself on being a NotMom: someone who is childless …

Choose from a list of nominated choices in Stow for delicious brunch on Mother's Day.

Giving Mom breakfast in bed on her day might be a bit of a challenge for some of us. Either we're not great cooks, or we don't have a large enough bed tray. Fear not, there are plenty of places in Stow to go out and to get brunch and Patch needs you to help pick a winner. You can either vote in our poll or click on your favorite choice below and rate it by using our five-star rating system. Those included in the poll were nominated by Patch readers earlier in the week.  Local Editor Amanda Harnocz will choose the winner based on the number of positive ratings a business gets and numbers from the poll. The polls close at 5 p.m. Friday. Here's a step-by-step explanation of how to review your favorite sporting good store: • Step 1: First make…

I incessantly asked myself if I had handled a situation correctly, if I should have done or said something differently, if I should back off. I strongly felt (and still feel) that if you aren’t constantly worrying about your kids, you aren’t doing something right. I didn’t really have anyone to ask for advice myself. I gave birth to my daughter a week after I turned 20. None of my friends had children at that age and many of them still don’t. Those who do are in the throes of elementary school, the Jonas Brothers, and pee wee sports. My …

Jenna, from the other side of the "parenting coin" I can truthfully tell you that I too take great pride in what my bumbling parenting skills have brought to adulthood. I have two, one of each, and both presented unique challenges that broke my heart and also made me proud. One thing that they always knew was that I was always "DAD", not always their friend. When I got the inevitable complaint of…   more ›
