Born in Shadyside, OH, he had lived in Stow for 28 years, was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and had retired from A & P as Director of Produce Merchandising in 1979 after 32 years service. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rita; daughter Mary Rummel of Cameron, NC; sons Todd of Sebring, OH and Scott of Stow; grandchildren Justin, Alan and Marcus and great-grandchildren Lily and Blake. From Redmon Funeral Home: Howard Lester Flood, 78, died Jan. 17, 2013. Born in Staten Island, NY, he had lived in Stow since 1977, prior to that for 16 years in Cuyahoga Falls. Howard was a U.S. Army Airborne veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving from May 1952 to December 1957 and was one of the first Green Berets with the 10th Special Forces Group. Howard joined First National Bank of Akron in 1963 and served in various capacities, including Senior Vice President and Senior Lender. In 1983 he became President and CEO of First National Bank of Akron and First Bancorporation of Ohio (now FirstMerit Bank). She was a hairdresser (in her early years) and also worked at Cipriano’s Restaurant as a hostess. She volunteered at many school activities at St. Jude and was mother moderator at Lumen Cordium High School. Pat volunteered for 35 years at the NEC World Series of Golf. She was also a Eucharistic minister and donated her time on the funeral committee at Holy Family Church. Dorothy was a homemaker who loved her flowers, gardening, and crocheting. She spent many hours canning and preserving the bounty of her and Frank’s gardens. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Stow for over 50 years, where she was very active as a deaconess, in Guild, Vacation Bible School, and many, many other activities. Born March 28, 1951 in Shelby he was the son of the late Victor and Margaret (Hertzer) Young. A 1969 graduate of Shelby High School, Greg attended Kent State University receiving his bachelor's degree and was a member of the Kent State football team. He was currently employed as assistant manager of Sears in North Canton. More than anything else, he was an exemplary husband to his wife, Mary Beth, who died on Dec. 10, 2011, and a father.
