It appears there's been a miscommunication between owner Vince Bowen and the Cuyahoga Falls Planning Commission over future plans for the car repair/tow business.
The proposed Joe's Auto development plan might be taking a detour. Earlier this week, the Stow Sentry reported Vince Bowen, owner of Joe's Auto, intended to move his car repair and tow business to 488 E. Steels Corners Rd. in Cuyahoga Falls from its existing location at 3679 Darrow Rd. in Stow. Planning and Zoning Director Fred Guerra and the Cuyahoga Falls Planning Commission were under the same impression as Bowen's plan called for a new 2,800-square-foot building and 11,000-square-foot impound lot at the 1.813-acre Falls site. The Steels Corners parcel, zoned E-1 Employment, appeared to be the ideal site as it allows for auto repair, and can include the use of a tow/impound lot after a conditional zoning permit has been issued. At its …

Tell them you want to put it at Portage Crossing. They seem to be approving ANY idea to get that thing going. Then, once you submit your idea for appearance, build it but change it, like another reconstruction site did further down State Rd. It'll only be a hand slap penalty at most.   more ›

If you have a black belt in Black Friday shopping, listen up: area big-box retailers are gearing up to dazzle bargain hunters even earlier this year—starting on Thanksgiving Day! Target's deals begin at 9 p.m. According to an ad leaked online, the best deals will be for TVs, a Nook, a Nikon camera and an XBOX 360 Kinect bundle. At Best Buy, doors open at midnight. The planning and development director said the occupancy rate on Commerce Drive is up to 93 percent.
The city has been tracking the vacancy rate on Commerce Drive for the last seven years and just recently the commercial street jumped into the 90th percentile for occupancy. Planning and Development Director Rob Kurtz said the trend in the city overall is that the vacancy rate — for retail and industrial — has declined. Commerce Drive recently reached a 93 percent occupancy rate. "We're very happy about that," he said. In September of 2010 the occupancy rate was nearly 82 percent. By November 2011 it had increased to 85 percent and in January 2012 the street was 88.5 percent occupied. While the percentage has increased to 93 as of now, some of the buildings on Commerce Drive are only partially occupied, said Kurtz. There are two …

The Stow car repair and towing shop will likely pick up and move to Cuyahoga Falls to expand its business.
Customers of Joe’s Auto in Stow may soon have to drive a little farther for car maintenance and service, reports the Stow Sentry. Vincent Bowen – owner of the repair and towing business located at 3679 Darrow Rd. – approached the Cuyahoga Falls Planning Commission on Nov. 6 and requested a zoning certificate to build a 2,800-square-foot building and 11,000-square-foot impound lot at 488 E. Steels Corners Rd. in the Falls. The parcel is zoned E-1 Employment, which permits auto repair and tow/impound lots after a conditional zoning permit has been issued. The commission unanimously approved the request for Joe’s to move onto the 1.813-acre parcel. The plan will now go in front of Cuyahoga Falls City Council for final approval. "...I'm all …
