Second Lt. David Rylander Killed in Afghanistan

The 23-year-old from Stow was killed in action May 2, 2012.

Second Lt. David Edward Rylander, 23, of Stow was killed in action in Logar Province, Afghanistan on May 2, 2012.  The Department of Defense announced today that Second Lt. Rylander died of injuries sustained when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 7th Engineer Battalion, 10th Sustainment Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York. Second Lt. Rylander, 23, was born on Oct. 14, 1988 in Akron. He was a graduate of home school where he excelled academically and he was an accomplished pianist, member of the Cuyahoga Falls Tigersharks swim team and an Eagle Scout, according to Redmon Funeral Home. Add a Photo of a Soldier Here to Honor Them at SMFHS Band Concert

As part of the concert the band will be paying tribute to all those who have or are currently serving in our country's armed forces. The concert begins at 7 p.m. in the Stow-Munroe Falls High School Auditorium April 28.
