Second Lt. David Edward Rylander, 23, of Stow was killed in action in Logar Province, Afghanistan on May 2, 2012. The Department of Defense announced today that Second Lt. Rylander died of injuries sustained when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 7th Engineer Battalion, 10th Sustainment Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York. Also killed during the attack was Spc. Junot M. L. Cochilus, 34, of Charlotte, North Carolina. Funeral arrangements for Second Lt. Rylander will be handled by Redmon Funeral Home. The flags a City Hall are at half staff for the soldier.
