Service Director Mike Miller said orange barrels remained on State Route 8 over the weekend and at night without any active road work being done because taking them down cuts into half a day's work. Construction in the southbound lanes on State Route 8 began at the beginning of the month to patch up cracks and potholes on the highway. The cones are sticking around on State Route 8 in the high speed lane for about another week still. Mayor Sara Drew said construction crews are making progess patching up all the cracks and potholes, but there's still work to be done. "I looked at the work site last week and there's a big difference," said Drew. "You can already notice a difference, it's a smooth drive." She added that Street Superintendent Don Brooker said the Ohio Department of Transportation plans to resurface Route 8 in 2016 or 2017, and this time, they won't use concrete. "They began to remove equipment from the cargo area, but the flames became too intense," said Amonett in the fire report. No one was harmed.
