16 Stow Non-Profits Lose Tax-Exempt Status

The IRS pulled the tax-exempt status from several Stow non-profits, continue reading to find out which organizations changed.

Sixteen non-profit organizations in Stow lost their tax-exempt status with the Internal Revenue Service recently. Across Ohio, the IRS pulled the exemption from 2,780 organizations, all for "failling to file legally required annual returns or notices for three consecutive years," according to the IRS. Of the 16 in Stow, three of the more recognizable organizations that are no longer tax exempt are the Stow Players Inc., Stow Arts Society and the Stow Kids Playground. Others include the Stow Home Bible Study Ministries at 4948 Darrow Rd., The Forrest Organization at 3107 Berwin Dr. and Diamond Gals of Ohio Inc. at 4372 Bunker Ln. A Twist on the Easter Pageant: Stow Residents in Corpus Christi Production

Two Stow residents to perform in controversial play.

Two Stow residents will perform in the provocative play Corpus Christi written by Terrance McNally and produced by Akron’s Heads Up Productions. The play, which will be performed April 21 through April 23 at First Grace United Church of Christ in Akron, is a contemporary retelling of the Christian gospels. Set in modern-day Texas, the play has created controversy everywhere it has been performed because of its inclusion of homosexuality as part of  the Christian tradition.  Stow resident TJ Jozsa is one of the creators of Heads Up Productions and is part of the play’s ensemble. After graduating from Stow-Munroe Falls High School, he went on to perform in productions like You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, A Christmas Carol, The Laramie …
