Shop Locally in Stow on Small Business Saturday

Start your holiday shopping at locally-owned stores on Nov. 24 during Small Business Saturday.

Small Business Saturday has arrived. It's a day for everyone to support the local shops and restaurants that give communities their unique and familiar touch.  American Express founded the day in 2010 to help small businesses garner exposure during the holiday season, when they might otherwise be overlooked. Last year, 100 million people nationwide participated in Small Business Saturday by shopping at locally-owned stores to help boost the economy and their communities. Longtime Chamber Member, Local Realtor Bill Monbeck Dies

William R. Monbeck passed away April 22, 2012 at 65.

Longtime Stow-Munroe Falls Chamber of Commerce member Bill Monbeck, of Monbeck & Co., passed away April 22, 2012 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.  "It is with great sorrow to let you know that Bill Monbeck passed away yesterday. Bill is survived by his wife of nearly 42 years, Karen, daughters Julie (Andrew) and Erin (Troy) and his precious grandsons, Finn and Kellen," a statement from the chamber said. Chamber of Commerce Moving Dec. 1

The Chamber is on the move to a more recognizable building in Stow Dec. 1.

The Stow-Munroe Falls Chamber of Commerce is on the move to a very recognizable Stow building in a location more centralized for the two primary communities it serves. Starting Dec. 1 the chamber will be doing business from Stratford Place, the brick Tudor-style office building constructed in 1986 at the southeast corner of S.R. 91 and East Arndale Road. The 50,000-square-foot building was purchased in early May by InterChez Properties LLC for $1.7 million, according to the auditor's division of the Summit County Fiscal Office. InterChez occupies some of the office suites in the building and has been marketing the remaining spaces for lease. Saddle Up: 'Night at the Races' Nov. 9

Donations of auction items are still being sought and will be accepted through Oct. 31.

The Stow-Munroe Falls Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for a fun night of food, drinks and wagering designed to raise funds for chamber operations and give attendees a chance to network in a casual social setting. Reservations are due by Oct. 20 for the chamber’s second annual “Night at the Races” event to be held Nov. 9 at the Stow Youth Baseball Party Center. Tickets are $25 per person for dinner, beer and soft drinks. Only tables of eight or more will be available for reserved seating with full payment. “It’s a very fun casual event, with everybody yelling and cheering on their favorite horses,” said Doris Stewart, chamber executive director. “Fundraisers are important to our bottom line, but it’s also great to have people networking …
