On Nov. 24 around 3 a.m., Stow Police pulled over a 20-year-old Hudson woman for driving on the wrong side of the road. Police said the woman drove her car left of center on Steels Corners Drive near the State Route 8 ramp. Police said the woman, 20, was under the influence of alcohol. Driving left of center is a minor-misdemeanor and the underage offense, as well as the OVI, are both first-degree misdemeanors in this situation. The woman was released on a personal recognizance bond.

Five Stow-Munroe Falls High School students had a drinking party Friday that ended with two girls being transported to hospitals for treatment related to extreme intoxication. Just before 11 p.m. Friday, Stow Police responded to a report of "underage persons highly intoxicated" at a home on Stockbridge Drive. The homeowner said he woke up to find the five juveniles intoxicated in his home. His daughter, 14, “was so intoxicated she was immediately taken to (Akron General Health & Wellness Center - North) by Stow Fire," police said. Another girl, 16, “was laying on the floor and vomiting upon herself when we arrived,” police said. She also was transported to a medical facility by Stow Fire. A drunk driving car accident will be simulated Friday morning at the high school for prom promise.
Students at the Stow-Munroe Falls High School will be witness to what could happen if they are under the influence of drugs or alcohol on prom night May 21. Beginning at 8:30 a.m. students will attend a mock funeral service with a visiting minister. Then, a simulated car crash in the gravel parking lot will take place with a possible helicopter landing, said Amanda Murray, student council advisor. Following the demonstration outside, stuents will have a mock court trial. The trial has been developed by Teacher John Moyer's AP government class, said Murray. I find it interesting that the boys brought the alcohol but the girls had the most in their systems. And kudos to the adult for calling the authorities on these kids.   more ›
