Akron League of Women Voters to Host Summit County Judicial Forum

Get to know more about Summit County's judicial candidates at the event.

The Akron Area League of Women Voters Summit County's judicial candidates for common pleas and probate court at 7 p.m. on Oct. 23. The event will be held at Shaw JCC, 750 White Pond Dr., Akron. The forum will take place in rounds, said coordinator and league member Gerry Hall. First, the candidates for Summit County Common Pleas Court will take the stage and be seated next to their opponent. Audience members will submit questions and each pair of candidates will be read the question by moderator Ardith Keck. The next pair of candidates gets a different audience question, and so on, Hall said. After two or three rounds (or 45 minutes), the probate court candidates and 9th District Court of Appeals candidates will take the stage. They will …

Fracking 101: Learn More at Nearby Forum

Hear both sides of the fracking debate tonight at a forum hosted by the Akron Area League of Women Voters.

Fracking is a hot topic in several Ohio cities like Kent,  Bath township and residents have come to Stow City Council meetings to talk about the issue as well.  If you're looking to learn more about the fracking process, mineral rights or the environmental impact of drilling, the Akron Area League of Women Voters invites you to a fracking forum at 5:30 p.m. today at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Akron in Fairlawn.
