City Property Goes Missing

The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A city employee reported to Stow Police Oct. 19 that his city-owned Hewlett Packard laptop computer valued at $779 was stolen from his unlocked truck while it was parked within fenced area at the Stow Street Department's service building. The employee told police he believes the theft occurred between Oct. 13 and Oct. 16, when the vehicle was parked in the lot waiting to be repaired. Police noted that another theft had occurred nearby between Oct. 11-13. A Snap-On 2 1/2-ton hydraulic jack valued at $700 was reported stolen Oct. 13 from the service department's salt storage building. Police Blotter: Theft From Stow Courthouse

The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Stow Police said that a man with monitoring devices for having two OVIs failed to return them to the Stow Municipal Court.  Police said that between June 22 and Aug. 1, the man was in compliance with his probation, but he did not show up to his probation hearing Aug. 2. The probation department went to the man's Stow home, but he no longer lived there. The total cost of the stolen equipment is $1,500. Theft, in this situation, is a fifth-degree felony.

Teens Run from Police After Drug Use

The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Two Cuyahoga Falls and two Stow youths were charged with obstructing official business after running from Stow Police in the woods behind the 1300 block of Appache Trail Aug. 4. Police got a call from a homeowner who said there was some suspicious activity in the woods. When police arrived, the youths fled. The teens admitted to smoking marijuana after they were caught by police behind a business on the south side of Hudson Drive. The teens have been referred to Stow Youth Services. Police Blotter: Dog Stolen, Breaking and Entering, Burglary

The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Stolen Dog A man living in the 1300 block of Ritchie Road told Stow Police that sometime on Aug. 8, someone stole his mixed pitbull from his front yard. Theft is a fifth-degree felony. Breaking and Entering The owner of Tong-Tong Chinese Restaurant on Norton Road told police that sometime between July 29 and 30, someone broke into the restaurant and stole about $20 worth of coins from the cash register. Breaking and entering is a fifth-degree felony. Burglary A man living in the 1900 block of Marhofer Avenue told police that sometime between July 30 and 31, someone went into his second story apartment through an unlocked window and stole a handgun and two watches. Burglary is a third-degree felony.

Police: Signs Stolen from Front Yard

The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A resident from the 2700 block of Graham Road told Stow Police two signs were removed from the front lawn July 28. The signs, valued at $5 each, were from a citizen-run website and said "Stop — Get the Facts, www.stowidiocracy.com." Theft, in this situation, is a minor-misdemeanor. Posted on the Stow Idiocracy website is a plea to discontinue the theft of the signs.

Exactly Ricky. The man who brought my yard sale signs back to me said that MANY different signs were thrown into his yard overnight and he was pretty sure it was a teenage prank. He was only able to return my signs because they had my location written on them. Perhaps all sign owners should write "If found please return to...." on a corner of the sign.   more ›

Home Egged, O.J. Dumped on Student's Head and Woman Dressed as Officer

The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Stow Municipal Court officer reported May 16 that a woman dressed in a police shirt with badges and patches was at the court house. When asked who she was, she identified herself to the court officer as an auxiliary police officer. Impersonating a peace officer is a fourth-degree misdemeanor. Neighbor Choked, Items Stolen, House Egged

A sampling of police blotter items from April 23-26.

Apparently, the person who stole from a Darrow Road man didn’t have the same taste in movies and music as the victim. A Darrow Road resident reported to Stow Police his unlocked car was opened and a $200 GPS system was taken, as well as $15 in cash. However, the CDs and DVDs in the victim’s car were not taken, but collected and placed in the glove box of the car. In this situation, theft is a first-degree misdemeanor and criminal mischief is a third-degree misdemeanor. In other police news:
