Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE announced 2013 dog licenses will be available for purchase as of Dec. 1, 2012. The 2013 license renewal forms are being mailed to dog owners beginning next week. Dog licenses cost $14. Ohio law requires licenses to be renewed between Dec. 1 and Jan. 31 each year. A late fee equal to the cost of the license will be charged for applications received after Jan. 31, 2013. If your dog has a Dangerous Dog designation, it must be registered per O.R.C. The title says, "Don't Forget to License Your Pet" but that's not entirely true: not pets, just dogs. Cats need no licenses, yet they roam far more freely (and do more damage) than dogs do, at least in my neighborhood. Cat owners should pay to license their pets as well!   more ›
