Holy Family Student Wins Fire Safety Poster Contest, Design Displayed on Van All Year

Congratulations to Justin Malone and the other 11 finalists in the competition!

At Thursday's City Council meeting, the top finalists of the Annual Fire Safety Poster Contest were honored. With well over 200 submissions from third and fourth grade children throughout Stow, only 12 finalists remained, and of these, two will receive a new bicycle and grand prize winner Justin Malone, of Holy Family School, will have his poster displayed on Firefighter Sandy's van for the next year. All of the finalists worked very hard on their posters and will be rewarded with lunch at Burger King on Graham Road with Mayor Sara Drew, Firefighter Sandy and a few other firefighters lucky enough to join them. Hoops, Anyone? Registration Now Open For Youth Leagues

Popular Stow Parks and Recreation basketball program is for Stow-Munroe Falls, Holy Family students in grades 2-6.

Do you have kids interested in playing basketball this fall and winter? The Stow Parks and Recreation Department is now taking registration for one of its most popular youth programs: Boys and Girls Elementary Basketball. This recreational program is for Stow-Munroe Falls School District residents or those who attend Holy Family School that are currently in grades two through six. No experience is necessary for a child to participate in this program.  Each child registered in the program will be taught the fundamentals of basketball and be given an opportunity to play in games to gain experience, confidence – and to have fun. Holy Family Makes National Blue Ribbon School List

The private school in Stow is one out of 269 private and public schools to get the award.

A total of four schools awarded the 2012 National Blue Ribbon Schools designation are from Ohio — including Holy Family School in Stow. According to a U.S. Department of Education press release, 269 schools were named as 2012 National Blue Ribbon Schools based on their overall academic excellence, or for making progress in improving student academic achievement levels. "I congratulate Holy Family School in Stow for this wonderful award," U.S. Rep. Steve LaTourette said. "It's an honor that should be enjoyed by school administrators, teachers, students, parents and the community of Stow."
