Caught! 'Fugitive of the Week' Nabbed in Cleveland

Tip to U.S. Marshal's office led to Roy Young's arrest.

The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force’s “Fugitive of the Week"  was arrested in Cleveland on Tuesday, U. S. Marshal Peter J. Elliot confirmed. Roy Young Jr. was caught just after 1 p.m. on Dec. 11, one day after being named Fugitive of the Week. Young was initially believed to be hiding in Lorain County. “We grabbed him this afternoon,” Elliot, of the Northern District of Ohio Marshal's office, said. “We caught him in the 3400 block near W. 120 in Cleveland.” Elliot said it was a hotline tip that led to Young’s arrest. “We arrested him there,” Elliot said. “He was not armed.” Elliot said Young was alone when arrested. Logan West Indicted Monday on Two Counts of Felony Rape

A grand jury indicted Logan A. West, 18, with two first-degree felony charges for allegedly raping his girlfriend's 15-month-old baby.

Logan Andrew West, 18, was indicted Monday morning in front of Portage County Common Pleas Judge John Enlow for charges of raping a child under the age of 10.  West, of 4890 Wyoga Lake Rd., was indicted on two counts of rape — both first-degree felonies — and if convicted, faces mandatory prison time (which could include a life sentence) and he must register as a sex offender in Ohio. West was taken into custody on Aug. 6 and is currently being held on a $500,000 cash bond in Portage County Jail. West is accused of raping his girlfriend's 15-month-old infant in Ravenna Township, according to the Portage County Sheriff Department. Richard Frederick May Face Life Sentence for Alleged Child Rape

Frederick was arrested last Friday for allegedly raping a victim under the age of 13. He was charged with rape, a first-degree felony and gross sexual imposition, a third-degree felony.

Richard Frederick Jr. is being held in Summit County Jail for allegedly raping a victim under the age of 13, and there’s a chance he may never leave prison. Frederick, 24, of Streetsboro, was charged with rape and gross sexual imposition last week and could face a life sentence if convicted, according to a Summit Court of Common Pleas clerk. Frederick is scheduled to go before Stow Municipal Court Judge Kim Hoover for a preliminary hearing on Wednesday, June 13. His bond has been set at $250,000. On June 8, Falls police issued the first- and third-degree felony rape charges and arrested him in the middle of a shift at Hungry Howie’s on State Road, said police Lt. Steve Guldeman.

See How Falls Compares with Stow in Safety

Cleveland Magazine released its annual "Rating the Suburbs" issue recently. See how Falls compares to Stow in the crime category.

Cuyahoga Falls received a slightly better rating than Stow by Cleveland Magazine as far as crime goes — but neither ranked highly for safety out of 77 cities considered in the report. The magazine recently released its "Rating the Suburbs" issue. Here's a run down of Stow's numbers: (Stow was ranked 65 out of 77 in safety, according to the magazine.) *Links attached to the above are examples of each category listed.  Stow's population last year was about 34,800. Cleveland Magazine reports there are about 5.60 violent crimes per 1,000 people and 19.4 non-violent crimes per every 1,000 people.  There were 38 full-time, no part-time and 24 auxiliary officers with the Stow Police Department when this information was considered. Unless one is showing a complete disregard of traffic laws, I don't see how driving through Silver Lake is more "scary" than Stow. I've never had an issue in any of those cities. And I grew up in a Cleveland suburb that was known to go after ANY car that was remotely suspicious.   more ›
