Stow $ense — How can the City Save Money?

Have an idea on how Stow can save money? Let the city and Patch know!

"Why don't they do this? Why can't they do that? The city could save money if they ... " Mayor Karen Fritschel announced today a new program for Stow residents called Stow $ense, where residents are encouraged to participate in their government by making suggestions on how to save Stow dollars and cents. "Your ideas are important!" said Fritschel. Some cuts and cost-saving measures have been on going for the last three years, like: Suggestions may be submitted to the mayor by email or mail letters to City Hall, 3760 Darrow Rd. The mayor asked that "frivolous or negative suggestions" not be submitted, rather "well thought out ideas that could benefit the city." We could close Highland School, move the teachers we have to other schools where needed, cut busing and move the Board of Education into Highland. We would save money in salaries, pensions and rent that we pay for the building we use on Hudson Dr. That would help reduce the proposed deficit of 2 million, there is no way that I can afford another dollar from my budget, times are tough and this …   more ›
