Help Send the Speech & Debate National Qualifiers to Competition Next Month!

These seven individuals need money in order to compete, eat, sleep in a motel, etc. Head coach Suzanne Theisen, a Hall of Fame inductee in 2011, says that the squad needs around $8,000 to cover all the costs this trip will impose.

Stow Students Speak and Debate at Nationals in Dallas

The students also got to experience the city of Dallas after winning its first NBA championship.

Two Stow-Munroe Falls High School students traveled to Dallas this month to compete in the National Forensic League's national tournament. Hanna Borsilli and Manny Anderson traveled with Speech and Debate Coach Sue Theisen to compete in the Lincoln Douglas debate and humorous interpretation, respectively. "I was quite nervous to compete at the national level. In Lincoln Douglas debate, competitors have a variety of different regional debate styles so I was not sure what to expect in the competition," Borsilli said. "For example, while many Lincoln Douglas debaters from Northern states, like myself, build their debate cases based on common sense and persuasion, debaters from Southern states are much more progressive and tend to incorporate …

Video: Stow's Speech Coach Selected to be in the Ohio Hall of Fame

Stow-Munroe Falls Speech Coach Sue Theisen was recognized by the Board of Education for her recent induction into the Ohio Hall of Fame.

Stow-Munroe Falls High School Speech and Debate Team Coach Sue Theisen is one of two coaches to be chosen to be in the Ohio High School Speech League's Coaches' Hall of Fame this year.  The Stow-Munroe Falls Board of Education recognized Theisen during its Feb. 14 meeting at Indian Trail Elementary. "I'm very proud of our speech and debate team," said Superintendent Dr. Russ Jones. "Sue Theisen was elected by her peers for this honor." Theisen has about 17 years of Speech and Debate Team experience in Stow and will be officially honored before the speech tournament at Whitmer High School in Toledo March 4.
