Man Takes 'God's Water' From Resident's Lake

The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department.

Monday morning, a 70-year-old Stow woman called Stow Police after noticing a man pumping water from a lake on her property.  The woman said the man was in a company car and claimed his company was installing fiber optic cable in the area, according to officers.  The man further advised the woman that "God put the water here for everyone," the report stated. The man then left before police arrived. The woman, who lives at the 660 block of East Steels Corners Rd., told police she was unable to get the complete name of the company. She had asked the man for a business card several times, but he refused to provide one, the report said. Theft in this situation is a fifth-degree felony and criminal trespassing is a fourth-degree misdemeanor. …

Visions for Vacancies: What Should Replace the Former Damon's?

The mayor said there's been some interest in the building, but Patch wants to know what Stow residents would like to see in the former Damon's.

Patch got an overwhelming response when readers weighed in on what anchor store residents would like to see in the Stow-Kent Shopping Plaza and we want that feedback again on another vacant building.  The Damon's off of Steels Corners Road at 4200 Steels Point Dr. near the Stow Municipal Court has been vacant since October 2009. Mayor Sara Drew said there have been a few tenants interested in the property, but nothing official has come of the space yet.  Fifty people lost jobs when the restaurant closed.  "The restaurant, which opened in 2002, had been 'under performing' for the past two years, according to Denise Reinert-McKeown, of G&R Management Services, the company that runs the Columbus-based Damon's International," according to an …

I would like to see Piada expand up here, right now all their locations are in Columbus. They are an Italian-style pasta version of Chipotle - and they are Delicious! http://www.mypiada.com/ But I would settle for a BD's Mongo BBQ or Dave & Busters. Both would be pretty attractive to the local college crowds. The latter would require much more space than the Damon's location though I expect.   more ›

Man Runs Away From Police Through Six Traffic Lanes

The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department.

The Stow Police Department got a call April 19 about a man walking and hiding under the Graham Road Bridge. When police responded, they found the man, who is from Cuyahoga Falls, near Steels Corners Road around 6:30 a.m. According to the report, the man, 29, ran across six lanes of traffic. Police chased him and caught up at the 4100 block of Bridgewater Parkway where he was arrested. Police said the man was suspected of using alcohol.  Failure to comply is a first-degree misdemeanor, pedestrians on a highway is a minor-misdemeanor and resisting arrest is a second-degree misdemeanor. He was taken to Summit County Jail.
