Council Decides Not to Pay Bettio for Moral Claim in Dismissed Case

All but one council member voted down a motion to pay William Bettio for costs incurred in a disorderly conduct trial that was dismissed recently in Stow Municipal Court.

Stow City Council voted 6-1 Oct. 11 against paying William Bettio fees incurred during a trial at the Stow Municipal Court that was dismissed by Judge Kim Hoover recently. Bettio said the charge was based and hearsay.  "[The officer] never got any side of my story or any of my witnesses to what was going on that day," Bettio said at the Oct. 8 meeting. "He only took the statement from the transportation supervisor and never went to any of mine." Bettio also told council that he, his family and daughter "have suffered continuous …

@JenniGS - Wow, someone who finally makes some sense! I have been reading these stories and comments for months now along with editorials in the Stow Sentry. It seems like it's always the same individuals complaining and trying to buck the system for their own personal agendas. Especially those Bettio people! I am glad city council stood up to him and did not pay his legal fees. Why not be a man…   more ›

The Bettio name is well recognized in Stow. And every incident with them, either Dad and Mom Bettio, or now their kids, is always some far out complaint followed up with some indecent or outrageous behavior. These people need some professional help and more than the city can help!! After 46 years here in Stow, the name BETTIO just means crazyness, outrageous. The city should give them a large …   more ›

Green Thumbs Sprout at Stow Municipal Court

It's the second year for the garden at the court house. Non-violent offenders helped cultivate a garden to benefit the needy in nearby neighborhoods.

Words that make you think of the Stow Municipal Court: judge, offense, violation, summons, justice, cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes ... Wait, what? Last year Judge Kim Hoover started a gardening project where non-violent offenders helped build a raised garden bed and helped grow produce to distribute to needy people in the area.  The project was to allow cash-poor defendants to work off fines while learning skills and get a lesson in work ethic.
