This hapless pair of thieves never had a chance. On Feb. 1 at 6:24 p.m., two teenagers walked into the Norton Road Giant Eagle, snagged multiple bottles of liquor and Crest Whitening Strips off the shelves, and fled, according to a Stow police report. Unfortunately, supermarket staff wrote down the license plate number of their getaway car and foiled their well-laid plan. Stow police looked up the plate and found the boys at a Hudson residence minutes after the theft. After being questioned by officers, the boys handed over the stolen goods, totaling $560. Each was cited for theft.

Gas Station Employee Finds Wallet in Trash A Sheetz Gas Station employee called Stow Police because a wallet was found in a trash can near the gas pumps, Nov. 14. The wallet had credit cards and a drivers license inside. An officer called the woman who’s license was in the wallet. The woman, from Hudson, said her wallet had been stolen. It was returned to her later that day. Woman Loses Wallet with $500 Inside On Nov. 14, a 54-year-old Munroe Falls woman said she lost her wallet in Stow. She told officers she remembered last seeing it at Pet Suplies Plus. On Nov. 14, an asset protection agent from Walmart called Stow Police because he said three juveniles concealed items and walked out of the store. Police said the three juveniles — all from Cuyahoga Falls — had taken two air horns and a Playstation 3 accessory without paying for them. Officers said one of the teens had a folding knife with a 3-inch blade. The items were valued at $62 total. In this situation, theft and carrying a concealed weapon is a first-degree misdemeanor. The case is being handled by Stow Youth Services.

The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department.
A cab owner called Stow Police while waiting for a passenger to return to the car with cab fare early Aug. 11. Police said an Akron man brought a passenger from Kent to a house in Stow. The passenger said he had money in the house and would be back to pay for the $43 ride. The driver told officers the man left a Huntington credit card with him to prove he "was serious," according to the police report. The passenger then disappeared around the front of the house and was not seen again. Attmepts to find the passenger at the time of report were unsuccessful, police said. There are no charges at this time, as the investigation is pending.

Stow Police said a man being kept in the bullpen at Stow Municipal Court Thursday afternoon decided to relieve himself. Officers said the man urinated on the floor. According to the report, the man was not suspected of using drugs or alcohol. "He gave no explanation for his actions," said Lt. Anne Stirm. Public indecency is a fourth-degree misdemeanor and disorderly conduct is a minor-misdemeanor. If convicted or he enters a guilty plea, Stirm said he will likely get a small fine and have to pay some court costs.

A 36-year-old man at the 2400 block of Call Road reported repeated damage to his mailbox to Stow Police. Saturday night, the homeowner told officers someone put shaving cream on top and inside his mailbox. Sunday night, someone punctured his mailbox with an unknown object, the report said. The damage is estimated at $40. In this situation, the crime is considered to be criminal mischeif, a third-degree misdemeanor.

A Progress Park man called Stow Police when he found something pretty unusual sticking out of his house July 24. According to the report, someone overnight shot an arrow into the roof of the 29-year-old man's house at the 2600 block of Progress Park. Criminal damaging is a second-degree misdemeanor in this situation. Police said there are no suspects.

Stow Police were called after a man noticed a tomato cage was missing from his garden. The 34-year-old man reported the theft occurred between the evening of July 19 and the morning of July 20 at his home on the 3700 block of Vira Road. According to the report, the man did not see or hear anything unusual. There are no suspects. The theft is a first-degree misdemeanor and criminal trespassing is a fourth-degree misdemeanor in this situation.

A woman who lives at the 2200 block of Elmwood Avenue reported to Stow Police that someone stole several expensive pieces from her jewelry box during the past four months. A diamond tennis bracelet, tanzanite and diamond ring and matching earrings, a diamond heart necklace and “mom’s” wedding ring were taken from her home, according to the July 23 report. The items have a total estimated value of $7,200. Theft in this situation is a fifth-degree felony.

Stow Police were called to Wendy’s around 9 p.m. July 24 because someone was very upset that the fast food chain was out of baked potatoes. When a 28-year-old Stow man learned the disappointing news, he began shouting profanities. The man was charged with disorderly conduct, a minor-misdemeanor. He was arrested and was scheduled to appear in court July 27.

While I sympathize with the cab driver, why is a cab from Kent to Stow that much?? I have lived in NYC so I used cabs around Midtown quite often. Doesn't this area have pubic transportation? $43.00? !   more ›
