First Freeze Warning of the Season Issued, Cover Those Plants!

Cover or take plants inside Sunday night. The freeze warning is in effect from 2 to 9 a.m. Monday.

With temperatures expected to dip into the lower 30s overnight and into Monday morning, the National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for the area. "High pressure will allow temperatures to drop below freezing during the early morning hours of Monday," the NWS indicated on its website. "Uncovered plants will likely be impacted." The agency also indicated that the freezing temperatures could also affect exterior plumbing fixtures. But on the brighter (and warmer side), it is expected to be sunny with a high near 56 Monday afternoon on Columbus Day.

A heat advisory also remains in effect until 7 p.m. Thursday.

There's a 50 percent chance of rain around 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Temperatures will soar this afternoon and the heat index is expected to be more than 100 degrees.

Is your air conditioner running? If so, you'd better go catch it, because you'll really need it on Tuesday. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for most of northern Ohio. It starts at noon and runs through 9 p.m. A high temperature of 95 degrees is expected in Stow with the heat index, which factors temperature and humidity together to get what it really feels like outside, rising up near 110 degrees. Fortunately, this extreme heat is only going to be here for Tuesday. Wednesday, temperatures go back down into the 80s. Heat Index to Reach 108 Degrees Friday

Weather forecasts call for a heat index of 108 today, and a heat advisory is in effect until 9 p.m. tonight.
