Cover or take plants inside Sunday night. The freeze warning is in effect from 2 to 9 a.m. Monday.
With temperatures expected to dip into the lower 30s overnight and into Monday morning, the National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for the area. "High pressure will allow temperatures to drop below freezing during the early morning hours of Monday," the NWS indicated on its website. "Uncovered plants will likely be impacted." The agency also indicated that the freezing temperatures could also affect exterior plumbing fixtures. But on the brighter (and warmer side), it is expected to be sunny with a high near 56 Monday afternoon on Columbus Day.

Is your air conditioner running? If so, you'd better go catch it, because you'll really need it on Tuesday. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for most of northern Ohio. It starts at noon and runs through 9 p.m. A high temperature of 95 degrees is expected in Stow with the heat index, which factors temperature and humidity together to get what it really feels like outside, rising up near 110 degrees. Fortunately, this extreme heat is only going to be here for Tuesday. Wednesday, temperatures go back down into the 80s. And there's a 50 percent chance of thunderstorms Wednesday as well, for those with thirsty yards. Click here for tips from the Stow Fire Department on how to avoid heat-related illness.
