Russell D. Jones, Ed.D., has served as the Stow-Munroe Falls City School District Superintendent since 2006. He is currently working on numerous initiatives for the District including academic achievement; achieving the top academic rating from the state of Ohio; building leadership teams in all Stow-Munroe Falls Schools and community engagement, among others.

Dr. Jones has been actively involved in a variety of administrative and teaching roles throughout his tenure working directly with students. In 2005, he was named Ohio High School Principal of the Year while at Aurora High School. He also served as principal of Tallmadge High School as well as principal and teacher at Kent Roosevelt High School, where he earned the honors of outstanding and distinguished teacher. His years spent in the classroom consist of teaching psychology, sociology, U. S. history and world geography.

Dr. Jones serves as professor at Ursuline College, has taught at the University of Akron and is a guest lecturer at Kent State University. His instruction includes college-level courses in school law and masters and doctorate level classes in curriculum, school-community relations and beyond.

He holds a doctorate degree from the University of Akron and both a master’s degree and a bachelor’s degree from Kent State University.

Dr. Jones is actively engaged in the Stow-Munroe Falls community as well as various statewide educational organizations. He is currently a member of the State of Ohio Report Card Committee; Buckeye Association of School Administrators; Ohio School Boards Association; Akron Area Superintendents’ Association; Greater Cleveland Superintendents’ Association; National Association of Secondary School Principals; Stow-Munroe Falls Rotary; Stow-Munroe Falls Chamber of Commerce; and the Stow-Munroe Falls Community Showcase Committee.
