2,800 Lost Power Monday Night in Stow

Nearly 3,000 customers of FirstEnergy lost power service due to the storms that rolled through Stow Monday evening.

Chris Eck, spokesperson for FirstEnergy, said weather caused an equipment failure near the intersection of Kent and Darrow roads.

About 2,800 customers lost power between 8:30 and 11 p.m.

"I work at Stow Cone and saw the whole transformer blow," Mallory Thomasson wrote on the Stow Patch Facebook page. "Things kept popping for an hour or more."
