Don't Forget to Spring Ahead!

Daylight saving time begins at 2 a.m. March 13.

It's that time of year, when many will scramble with the buttons on their car radio to adjust the clock and when we suffer jetlag without the perk of being on vacation.

Daylight saving time is at 2 a.m. March 13, which means when 2 a.m rolls around it will turn to 3 a.m.

We'll lose an hour of sleep, but hopefully we'll start gaining some warmer weather!

Thankfully many clocks change automatically on your computer and phones, but good luck with that one in your car!

Also, don't forget to change the batteries in your smoke detectors!

In conjunction with the United States Fire Protection Association and Ohio's fire departments, the Ohio Department of Commerce's Division of State Fire Marshal encourages Ohioans to make it a habit to change the batteries in their smoke detectors at least twice a year – at the beginning and end of daylight saving time.

"The facts speak clearly – only a working smoke detector can save your life," said Interim State Fire Marshal Donald Cooper. "Ohioans can greatly reduce tragic fire deaths and injuries by performing the simple task of replacing smoke detector batteries. By taking the time to change the batteries and by testing them monthly, you are doing more to affect the fire safety of your family and home than any other action you could take."
