At Least 2,000 Without Power After Tornado Warning

High speed winds whipped through Stow causing power to go out to homes and businesses.

About 2,300 customers in Stow, Brimfield and Kent are without power following a storm that brought , said Ray Martinez, spokesperson for FirstEnergy Corp.

"I believe those numbers will climb," said Martinez. "We have blown fuses, breakers still open and lines down."

The power went out around 8 p.m. May 25. Martinez said he is unsure when power will be restored. At one point, power was out for about 3,000.

"I can't begin to give an estimated time of restoration," he said. "The rain is coming down hard and it's difficult for guys to patrol the lines and see where problems are."

Outages are scattered, but several are without power on Newcomer Road. Martinez said all available Ohio Edison crews are out to restore power.

"When the rain stops, it'll make this a little easier," he said.

A Tornado Watch, Severe Thunderstorm Warning and Flood Warning is set to expire at 10 p.m. according to the National Weather Service.
