Board Member Should 'Care About All Students': Letter to the Editor

"He has become ineffective in his duties as a member of this board," said Molly Emery in a letter to the editor asking a school board member to resign.

The actions of one school board member have become unacceptable. He has lost his ability to effectively communicate with his fellow board members and the administration.

I have a hard time believing that the other six people on the board with him are all hiding things, sweeping things under the rug, and that he is the only one who knows everything.

He was downright rude in past board meetings to presenters from the solar panel and energy companies. He thinks everyone is out to rip off the taxpayers.  He is now involved in self promotion and self enrichment.  His actions have brought disgrace to the district and humiliation to the students. He says he is trying to teach the students a lesson about being bullied. Well, HE is the bully.  He should care about ALL the students.

What about the two children he threw under the bus? Because of these facts, he has become ineffective in his duties as a member of this board. I am fairly certain that the other board members ran for their position because they are passionate about providing our children the very best education so they can compete in the 21st century.

Clearly, he does not share that same passion, has ulterior motives and should immediately resign his position.

Signed,

Molly Emery

Actually he sounds perfect for the job!!! The students are less quality.

And I guess a grade changing scandal puts Stow in a good light according to this logic. And let's not forget the fact the SMFSD has no HR director. How does this help?

I should have added to original statement, all the blame cant go on the kids since (i would say) 30 percent of the teachers and 65 percent of the parents are less quality
I.M. Wright September 13, 2012 at 12:08 PM
Speaking of "less quality", I strongly suggest YOU look in the mirror. You really can't be stupid, so why do you insist in acting so dumb?
I.M. Wright September 13, 2012 at 12:10 PM
And that has nothing to do with this. My God....you school-hating losers and complainers like you never stop trying to deflect from the issue. Typical. No wonder the floor was wiped w/you in the election.

Why is this school board member not being named? Is this by choice of the author (since we all know who it is) or by Patch?
I.M. Wright September 13, 2012 at 12:13 PM
Again, how about just shutting the (expletive) up. YOU, of all people, are not even remotely qualified to criticize ANY parent -- especially since you write like you didn't make it out of junior high, or you simply had your head up your backside all throughout your "educational" experience. Now, get off the internet and get back to work --- there are carts to be retrieved from the Walmart parking lot, Beavis.

This was how the letter was given to me. I did not remove a name from the letter.

Why would anybody accuse someone else of not making it out of Junior High, all while berating that person and having no substance to their rebuttal? I.M. Wright, you said in the beginning of one of your rebuttals to a statement, "Again, how about just shutting the (expletive) up." Is that adult conversation? Is that trying to solve a problem, or is it just blind fury? I'm not saying that your point of view should not be heard, I'm just pointing out that there are much better, and civil ways of discussing an issue of this magnitude.

Re: not using his name. I know (after watching the board meeting where this letter was read), they were asked not to use names by the board when speaking there. What two students being thrown under the bus is the letter referring to? As for the solar panel/energy speakers he was rude to...pfft..so? If they are asking for money from our district or are going to be performing any work in our district, then they need to be questioned thoroughly. If the questioning comes off rude, then so be it. To be fair, I haven't seen that meeting nor did I attend it but I would imagine that the solar panel speaker is a grown up and should be able to handle it. Seems a petty issue though, IMO. I didn't vote for Mr. Armstrong becasue he was running on the platform of "being nice". Again, good for Armstrong!

Sorry I replied down below because I didn't see the reply tab. I think the letter writer was asked to refrain from using his name during the meeting when the letter was read. If Patch got the letter in that format, the name would be missing.

@ I.M. Wright - the speech that Molly gave at the school board meeting is the same as the written speech above. The school board member was having a fit because she was looking at him and the other individual used his name........like we don't know who they are talking about! What a spectacle he made of himself!!!!

@ imwright. Actually, i am 20 years under the age of retirement and semi-retired. So lets talk about jobs!!! I will leave the job at walmart for you. Dont cry because you are jealous!!!!

It doesn't matter if Ms. Emery was asked to "refrain from using his name". Everyone knows perfectly well who she was referring to and she should never have been given the platform during Public Comment to attack a sitting Board member. Public comments are supposed to address items on the agenda. Period.
