Board Member Should 'Care About All Students': Letter to the Editor

"He has become ineffective in his duties as a member of this board," said Molly Emery in a letter to the editor asking a school board member to resign.

The actions of one school board member have become unacceptable. He has lost his ability to effectively communicate with his fellow board members and the administration.

I have a hard time believing that the other six people on the board with him are all hiding things, sweeping things under the rug, and that he is the only one who knows everything.

He was downright rude in past board meetings to presenters from the solar panel and energy companies. He thinks everyone is out to rip off the taxpayers.  He is now involved in self promotion and self enrichment.  His actions have brought disgrace to the district and humiliation to the students. He says he is trying to teach the students a lesson about being bullied. Well, HE is the bully.  He should care about ALL the students.

What about the two children he threw under the bus? Because of these facts, he has become ineffective in his duties as a member of this board. I am fairly certain that the other board members ran for their position because they are passionate about providing our children the very best education so they can compete in the 21st century.

Clearly, he does not share that same passion, has ulterior motives and should immediately resign his position.

Re: not using his name. I know (after watching the board meeting where this letter was read), they were asked not to use names by the board when speaking there. What two students being thrown under the bus is the letter referring to? As for the solar panel/energy speakers he was rude to...pfft..so? If they are asking for money from our district or are going to be performing any work in our district, then they need to be questioned thoroughly. If the questioning comes off rude, then so be it. To be fair, I haven't seen that meeting nor did I attend it but I would imagine that the solar panel speaker is a grown up and should be able to handle it. Seems a petty issue though, IMO. I didn't vote for Mr. Armstrong becasue he was running on the platform of "being nice". Again, good for Armstrong!

Sorry I replied down below because I didn't see the reply tab. I think the letter writer was asked to refrain from using his name during the meeting when the letter was read. If Patch got the letter in that format, the name would be missing.

@ I.M. Wright - the speech that Molly gave at the school board meeting is the same as the written speech above. The school board member was having a fit because she was looking at him and the other individual used his name........like we don't know who they are talking about! What a spectacle he made of himself!!!!

It doesn't matter if Ms. Emery was asked to "refrain from using his name". Everyone knows perfectly well who she was referring to and she should never have been given the platform during Public Comment to attack a sitting Board member. Public comments are supposed to address items on the agenda. Period.
