Facebook Stalking — It's a Crime

The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department.

A lot of people are guilty of surfing Facebook for too long, or looking up exes or former classmates, to name a few — but this person was actually guilty of a crime because of something that was posted on Facebook.

A Treeside Drive resident called after someone left a “threatening” message on the victim’s Facebook page Jan. 31.

The suspect posted the victim’s address and wrote, “Whatever happens at this point is out of my hands,” according to the report.

The victim told police he believes the suspect or a friend of the suspect may try to harm him because they are upset the suspect’s estranged wife is living with him now, according to the report.

Menacing by stalking is a first-degree misdemeanor in this situation.
