Fire on Commerce Drive on Memorial Day

The Stow Fire Department responded to a fire at Jaco Environmental May 30.

The had to cut through a fence to extinguish an outdoor fire at on .

According to the report, there was a fire in a "tote storage area" outside of the building against the south wall of the building at 1530 Commerce Dr. No injuries were reported.

Fortunately, the fire was extinguished before it could reach the inside of the building, said Stow Fire Capt. Mark Stone.

When the two engines and a tower with 15 firefighters responded to the call at 5:45 p.m., the chain-link fence was cut so the trucks could gain entry to the property.

The fire department examined the inside of the building and removed plywood from the walls and reported no damage to the interior of the business.

The ignition source is not known at this time, but the fire is still under investigation. The fire department cleared the scene around 7:30 p.m., said Stone.
