Shoplifters Hit Employees With Car, Under Age Suspects Take Beer, More Thefts

A sampling of police blotter items from April 8-21.

arrested two Ravenna men April 15 after two employees reported the men took items from the store, left and then ran into them with a car. Police caught up with the suspects and charged them both with two counts of robbery — a third-degree felony. No injuries were reported. About $199 worth of miscellaneous items were taken from the store.

In other police news:

  • Three cars were broken into at a Charring Cross Drive home April 21.The homeowner reporter to Stow Police that overnight, $725 worth of items in all three cars was taken. A portable DVD player and a GPS unit were among the most expensive items stolen. Theft is a fifth-degree felony.
  • A Cuyahoga Falls woman shopping at in Stow reported to police that her cell phone was taken from her shopping cart when she wasn't looking. A store employee called the phone and it was answered by a female, but she hung up the phone, according to the report. Theft, in this situation, is a first-degree misdemeanor.
  • A administrator reported to police that personal trash had been dumped into the school’s dumpster. Theft of services is a first-degree misdemeanor.
  • A Mac Drive Apartment resident reported to police April 19, that his television satellite dish was stolen out of his front yard.  The dish is valued at $100. Theft, in this situation, is a first-degree misdemeanor.
  • Two suspects, who appeared to be underage, took alcohol from the gas station on Fishcreek Road April 8 around 10:30 p.m., according to police. One suspect talked to an employee at the store while the second person took six individual bottles of beer from the cooler and walked out with them, said police. Theft, in this situation, is considered to be a first-degree misdemeanor.
  • A Klein Avenue resident reported to police that his neighbor “intentionally drove off of the driveway into the yard,” according to the report. When Stow Police responded, the neighbor said he was a passenger in the car and driving onto the lawn was an accident. Criminal mischief is a third-degree misdemeanor, but police said after listening to everyone’s statements and noting the damage was minimal, they could not determine the intent and no one was charged.
