Logan Andrew West, 18, of Stow was arrested Aug. 6 and charged with raping a child under the age of 10, Portage County Sheriff officials said.
Portage County Sheriff David W. Doak said deputies responded to the 5600 block of South Prospect Street in Ravenna Township to assist Ravenna Township emergency medical workers on Aug. 4.
Ravenna Township EMS was responding to a call regarding an injury to a 15-month-old girl.
Due to the severity of the child's injuries, the infant was taken first to Robinson Memorial Hospital, then transferred to Akron Children’s Hospital, officers said.
During the following investigation police learned the trauma to the infant appeared to be a result of a sexual assault, the sheriff's department said. Several people, including West, were present in the home at the time of the incident, officers said.
West is the boyfriend of the child's mother, sheriff's officials said. West, who lives on Wyoga Lake Road, cooperated in the investigation, officials said.
West was taken into custody on Aug. 6 and is being held in the Portage County Jail.
West is charged with rape of a child under the age of 10 years, a felony.
He being held without bond and will be arraigned today at the Ravenna Courthouse.
Police said the infant was released from Akron Children’s on Aug. 6.
And I don't know why people always have to mention castration of someone who's been charged/convicted of raping a child. It certainly wouldn't do any good if what you wish to castrate wasn't used to commit the alleged rape (and yes, I've heard some really graphic cases. And I'll leave it at that).
You can start "taking this country" back by learning to freaking read. Like yesterday. Because that's NOT what I said.
Yeah...because that's NOT a slippery slope or anything like that (although Republicans and Dems over the years have had no problems taking away some of our liberties/freedoms over the years). Good grief.
UMMMM, my grandson is 22 months old and you don't leave him unattended for even a minute....even when they're sleeping you keep checking on them. Granted he did the crime and there is no excuse for that, but what about others in the house being responsible too????
Thanks for mentioning prayer. I'll be praying for this poor little girl and her family too. She's traumitized for the rest of her life.
