Councilman Mike Rasor Running For Re-Election

The at-large councilman is seeking a second term on Stow City Council.

At-Large Councilman Mike Rasor is seeking a second term because he wants to continue to provide a vision of "business sense and commitment to the city's future to get us back on track."

Rasor, 26, said the city is headed in the wrong financial direction and wants to stay on council to help change that.

"Our administrative salaries have skyrocketed, along with the city’s debt and budget deficits. At the same time, we are stripping money at alarming rates from our roads and safety funds," he said. "The situation is dire and we need candidates who will take their duties seriously.”

If re-elected in November the Cleveland business attorney said he wants to "balance the budget, re-invest in our roads and begin the process of budgeting for the long-term solvency of the city, rather than being short-sighted.

"With the state seeking to reduce our funding by about $1 million per year, the situation will only get worse if we don't change our priorities. We need to allocate money to the fundamental services, not to the bureaucrats and not to the golf course," he said.

In his first term, Rasor has fought against a tax increase, proposed a property tax reduction and offered various spending cuts to areas such as administration, city council salaries and golf course expenditures. All things he said he will continue to focus on.

Rasor grew up in Stow and went to the and said he values the residents and their opinions.

"I did not know we had so many great people in this city until I took the time to meet them last campaign," he said. "It really has kept me motivated to keep fighting for what they desire Stow to be."

Mike Rasor is a business attorney at Cavitch, Familo & Durkin Co., L.P.A. in downtown Cleveland. He has a B.A. The University of Akron Honors College, Summa Cum Laude and a J.D. from The University of Akron School of Law, Magna Cum Laude.
